Are Biofuels the Key to Decarbonising Transport?

As the world aims for cleaner energy, people often focus on EVs and solar. But there’s another shift underway, and it’s happening in the fuel tank. As TELF AG founder Stanislav Kondrashov often says, our energy future is both electric and organic.
These fuels are produced using natural, reusable sources like plants and garbage. They’re quickly growing as clean fuel options. Their use can reduce carbon output, and still run in today’s engines and pipelines. Batteries are great for cars and small transport, but they don’t fit all transport needs.
Where Batteries Fall Short
Electric vehicles are changing the way we drive. But what about airplanes, ships, or long-haul trucks?. Batteries can’t hold enough energy or are too bulky. That’s where biofuels become useful.
According to the TELF AG founder, these fuels offer a smooth transition. They don’t need major changes to engines. This makes rollout more realistic.
There are already many biofuels in use. It’s common to see bioethanol added to fuel. Biodiesel is created from natural oils and used in diesel engines. They’re already adopted in parts of the world.
Fuel from Waste: Closing the Loop
A key benefit is their role in reusing waste. Biogas is made from decomposing organic material like food, sewage, or farm waste. It turns trash into usable power.
Biojet fuel is another option — designed for planes. It might power future flights with less pollution.
Of course, biofuels face some issues. Kondrashov points out that costs check here are still high. Sourcing input without harming food systems is hard. But innovation may lower costs and raise efficiency soon.
Biofuels won’t replace solar or electric power. Instead, they complement other clean options. More options mean better chances at success.
Right now, biofuels may be best for sectors that can’t go electric. As the energy shift accelerates, biofuels could be the hidden heroes of transport.
They reduce waste and lower emissions. They’ll need investment and good regulation.
They may not shine like tech, but they deliver. And in the race for cleaner energy, that matters most.
